【Course Introduction】
This course will take you on a journey through a thousand years, exploring the development of Chinese porcelain and its influence on global economics and culture. We will begin with the origins and evolution of Chinese porcelain, analyzing the styles and technical characteristics of porcelain from different dynasties, and how Chinese porcelain has influenced global ceramic arts. The course will also focus on the rise of modern European porcelain companies and their interaction with Chinese porcelain, providing a comprehensive understanding of the rise and fall of Chinese porcelain and its brilliant achievements and impact.

1. The Origins of Porcelain: The Beginnings and Early Development of Chinese Porcelain
   • Definition of porcelain and technical foundations
   • The origin of Chinese porcelain: From Shang and Zhou dynasty green ware to Eastern Han primitive porcelain
   • The development of Sui and Tang porcelain and cultural exchanges along the Silk Road
2. Dynastic Brilliance: Analysis of Chinese Porcelain Characteristics Through the Ages
   • The five famous kilns of the Song dynasty and their craftsmanship achievements
   • The styles and innovations of Ming and Qing imperial and folk kilns
   • Aesthetic features and functional transformations in porcelain art across dynasties

   • The export of Chinese porcelain during the Ming and Qing periods and the worldwide popularity of “blue and white porcelain”
